Over the festive period, dating sites are super busy. Whether you are looking for a future husband or wife, or “nostringsdating” – there will be a website or local group for you. Adult dating sites are becoming more and more popular. Don’t let anyone judge you or make you feel that a site is better or worse than another. At the end of the day, it’s your life and you want to be happy.
It can be so hard in real life to meet someone who is interested in what you are interested in. That’s where apps and dating sites come in. They allow us to make contact with people that we just wouldn’t get to meet in real life. The vast majority of us get up, go to work, come home, and that is our routine for a vast majority of days. Yes there’s some socialising going on, and maybe we occasionally meet new people, but it’s usually in the minority of occasions.
Some people think it might be because we are too engrossed in our mobile phones or devices. If we are permanently looking down, we don’t look up and around at other people. Perhaps if we weren’t so engrossed in our devices, we might meet more new people. My grandparents met on a bus – but as someone who recently moved away from London, making eye contact, let alone speaking to a stranger is just not a done thing. Whilst things are different now I’ve relocated, it’s still hard to get chatting to new people. So if we are engrossed and enthralled with our devices, let’s got on those sites and apps and make the most of it right?!
Like with any kind of dating, just remember that you need to look after your personal safety, and this is particularly important when dating of the no strings variety. From not sharing too much personal information before meeting and prioritise your safety when you do meet.
When looking for no strings hook ups, there are slightly different ground rules than there are for perhaps more traditional dating, after all, you know you are going to end up at someone’s place – so safety needs to become even more of a priority. Where are you going? Who knows who you are with and where you are going? Have you got to check in with a trusted friend by a specific time? Do you know how to get home from that place on public transport? These are all important things to consider. There is one thing that I shouldn’t even need to say, but I will. USE A CONDOM! At the end of the day, it is your health and life and it is not worth the risk. Gone are the days where women are judged from carrying condoms – so man or woman, there is no excuse not to have some with you and if you are given the excuse that the other person prefers not to use them, or is “allergic” but doesn’t have any hypo-allergenic ones, you need to run your arse out of there faster than you can say STD.
It is easy to get carried away on a night out, after a few drinks, and if that was what you set out to achieve on your night out, but there is absolutely no excuse, so stay safe and have fun!
